UCF’s Fleener and SMU’s Heise Win Weekly Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball honors for the week ending Nov. 1.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abbie Fleener • Sr. • OPP • UCF
Fleener produced 4.00 kills per set with a .432 hitting percentage to lead the Knights to a 2-0 week in conference play. The senior recorded 16 kills with a .448 hitting percentage in a road sweep of Houston. Fleener capped the weekend with a .400 hitting percentage and eight kills against Tulane, 3-0. In conference play, the Grand Rapids, Mich., product has helped UCF rank amongst the conference leaders in hitting percentage (.235, 3rd) and kills per set (13.40, 3rd). The Knights sit in a three-way tie for third place in the conference standings with a 7-5 league record.           
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Morgan Heise • Jr. • L • SMU
Heise powered the Mustang’s defense with 7.00 digs per set and was perfect in 40 serve-receive opportunities in a pair of road wins. The junior libero registered 24 digs in a sweep of East Carolina on Sunday. Heise began the week with 18 digs in a straight set win over Tulsa on Wednesday. The Hempstead, Texas, native ranks amongst the nation’s leaders and headlines The American with 5.86 digs per set on the season. SMU is riding an 11-game winning streak and sits atop the conference standings with an 11-1 record in conference play.      
 
WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Recorded 6.00 digs per set in a perfect 2-0 week with 19 digs in a sweep of Tulane and 17 digs against Houston.   
 
Jordan Thompson • Fr. • RS/OH • Cincinnati
Produced 4.00 kills per set for Bearcats, including a 21-kill performance on .378 hitting in a four set win over Temple.
 
Immanuella Anagu • Sr. • MB • UConn
Registered a pair of 10-kill matches and a 1.12 blocks per set average in a 2-0 week for the Huskies.  
 
Avery Acker • Sr. • S • SMU
Led the Mustangs with 12.33 assists per set in a pair of road sweeps, including 44 assists at East Carolina on Sunday.
 
Erica Bohannon • Jr. • OH • Tulsa
Recorded 14 kills against SMU and 17 kills in a win over East Carolina in a 1-1 week for the Golden Hurricane.
