PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly outdoor track and field honors for the week ending April 1.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Ben Preisner • So. • Tulsa • Guelph, Canada
Preisner has been named Male Track Athlete of the Week after his performance in the 3,000m steeplechase at the Stanford Invitational. Preisner finished second in the second section in the event with a time of 8:49.44, which is the top time in The American and eighth in the NCAA this season.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Johnson earned Female Track Athlete of the Week honors with her performance at the Bobcat Invitational over the weekend. Johnson ran the fastest 200m in the conference in a time of 23.12 to win that event, while she took fifth in the 100m (second among college athletes) in 11.49 seconds.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE MALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Macklin Tudor • Sr. • Cincinnati • Mount Orab, Ohio
Tudor has been named Male Field Athlete of the Week after he won both the discus and the shot put at the Oliver Nikoloff Open. Tudor’s mark in the discus (58.73m) is the top mark in the conference and sixth in the NCAA this season. His 17.65m shot put is the third-longest mark in The American.
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE FEMALE FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Samiyah Samuels • Fr. • Houston • Houston, Texas
Samuels won this week’s Female Field Athlete of the Week honor with her performance in the long jump at the Texas Relays. Samuels finished third in the event with a leap of 6.25m. Her mark is the top distance in the conference and ranks ninth in the NCAA in 2017.
