Tulsa's Etou, UCF's DeJesus Collect Weekly Honors



PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the week of Dec. 25-31.
 
AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Junior Etou · R-Sr. · F · Tulsa · Republic of Congo
Etou averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds, leading Tulsa to a 2-0 start to American Athletic Conference play. Etou opened the week with 20 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in the Golden Hurricane’s victory over ECU. The senior followed up the effort with 14 points and six boards in leading Tulsa past Tulane, the program’s first 2-0 start to conference play since 2014-15.

AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ceasar DeJesus · R-Fr. · G · UCF · Jersey City, N.J.
For the second time this season, DeJesus earns rookie of the week honors after averaging 12.0 points in a 1-1 week for UCF. After scoring nine second-half points at SMU, DeJesus had 15 points in the Knights’ win at ECU, including a career-best three three-pointers.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Breaon Brady · Jr. · F · Houston · Akron, Ohio
Brady helped Houston cap a 2-0 week, scoring a career-high 21 points in the Cougars’ three-point win over Temple. The junior was 8-of-9 from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds in 18 minutes. On the week, Brady averaged 13.5 points, knocking down 11-of-12 field-goal attempts.
 
Jarron Cumberland · So. · G · Cincinnati · Wilmington, Ohio
Cumberland helped Cincinnati extend its home court winning streak to a nation-best 34 games, leading the Bearcats with 15 points in an 82-48 victory over Memphis. Cumberland was 6-of9 from the floor, adding eight rebounds and four assists.

Davis posted his fourth double-double of the year in UCF’s road win at ECU, leading the Knights with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Averaging 14.5 points on the week, Davis led the Knights with 12 points at SMU.
 
Jarrey Foster · Jr. · G · SMU · Houston
With highlight-reel dunks in both games, Foster led SMU to a 2-0 start to conference play, extending the Mustangs’ home court winning streak to 33 games. On the week, Foster averaged 13.0 points to go along with 8.5 rebounds per game.
 
Landry Shamet · R-So. · G · Wichita State · Kansas City, Mo.
In Wichita State’s first American Athletic Conference game, Shamet led the Shockers with 16 points in a win at UConn. Going 5-of-6 from three-point range, Shamet also added six assists.
