Tulane 4, ECU 3
Records: Tulane (13-10), ECU (17-9)
Daniela La Fuente, Ivone Alvaro and Christina Sisti won three-set battles in singles for No. 9-seeded Tulane, which overcame a 3-1 deficit to take a 4-3 victory against No. 8-seeded ECU Wednesday afternoon.

The Green Wave was on the brink of elimination after ECU’s Celia Ruiz, the nation’s No. 75-ranked singles player, scored a 6-4, 6-2 win for the Pirates at No. 1 singles, giving ECU a 3-1 lead. The Pirates forced a third set in the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 matches, needing only one of the three to clinch the match. But La Fuente and Alvaro took over in their respective third sets, however, as La Fuente won 6-1 in the third, while Alvaro was a 6-2 winner in the deciding set. That set the stage for Sisti, gained an early break in third to build leads of 3-1 and 5-3 before holding on for a 6-4 victory.

The win sends Tulane to the quarterfinal round of the championship Thursday, where the Green Wave will face top-seeded UCF at noon CT.
